A towable lithium iron phosphate battery-powered charging station for fast recharging of electric construction and mining equipment on-site. Up to 220 kW DC output in standalone mode, 232 kWh energy storage, charging setup in around 10 seconds.
At construction, quarry and mining sites, electric equipment often operates where permanent connection to charging infrastructure is unavailable or not economically viable. The FCS 220-240 brings the charger to the machine — not the machine to a charging port.
The FCS 220-240 is a towable charging station based on a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePo4) battery, capable of operating in standalone mode (from the internal storage) or simultaneously connected to an external grid or diesel generator in Charge-to-Discharge mode. The system is controlled via the ECO Controller™ — Atlas Copco human-machine interface for temporary power applications.

The FCS 220-240 creates a temporary charging infrastructure directly on-site. It operates in standalone mode (from the built-in storage) or with simultaneous connection to a grid or generator — in Charge-to-Discharge mode.
In Charge-to-Discharge mode, the FCS 220-240 combines its internal storage with external AC or DC sources — the combined output exceeds the standalone rating and reaches 240 kW DC. The station automatically distributes available power between connected machines.
The FCS 220-240 is designed for sites where electric equipment operates with limited or no fixed charging infrastructure
A mobile solution and a fixed installation serve different purposes. The right choice depends on the specific project.
| Parameter | FCS 220-240 (mobile) | Fixed infrastructure |
|---|---|---|
| Permanent installation required | ✓ Not required | Required |
| Suitable for temporary sites | ✓ Yes | Limited |
| Move between sites | ✓ Towable | Not applicable |
| No construction works required | ✓ Yes | Installation needed |
| Off-grid charging capability | ✓ Standalone mode | Requires grid connection |
| Long-term permanent sites | Limited | ✓ Optimal |
Electric excavators, loaders and dump trucks are already operating on real sites. One of the practical questions when transitioning to electric equipment is how to organise charging during the working shift, especially at remote or temporary sites.
The FCS 220-240 provides a temporary charging infrastructure directly on-site. The station comes to the machine — not the machine to the charging port: charging happens during breaks without interrupting the work cycle.
Atlas Copco offers a complete portfolio of charging solutions for electric equipment — from mobile portable charging stations to fixed FCP 160–480 kW charging complexes.
