Hitachi ZX470–ZX870 Heavy Excavators: 24 hours a day in the toughest conditions
Hitachi ZAXIS hydraulic excavators with operating weights from 50 to 87 tonnes are built for continuous work in the most demanding environments. The ZX470LC-5A, ZX670LC-5A and ZX870LC-5A are deployed on major quarry and mining sites for overburden removal, blasted rock loading and ore body extraction. For open-pit mineral extraction, reinforced R-series variants are available — with additional components engineered for the harshest conditions.
Key technical features
- HIOS IIIB hydraulic system delivers precise arm control during bucket-away movement, maintaining constant height during boom tilt and arm curl
- Cummins engines from 270 to 447 hp meeting current emission standards with reduced fuel consumption
- Heavy-duty undercarriage and durable working equipment — the critical factors for continuous quarry operation
- Cab with excellent site visibility, ergonomic controls, a high-brightness LCD monitor and a comfortable seat — reducing operator fatigue during long shifts
- R-series reinforced configuration: additional protection for the undercarriage, working equipment and hydraulics for open-pit mining
Global operating experience
Hitachi heavy-class ZX excavators operate at the world's largest quarries — in Australia, Chile, Brazil, Canada, South Africa, Indonesia and other major mining regions. They have proven themselves extracting copper, molybdenum, iron ore and gold under high-altitude conditions, extreme temperatures and intensive drill-and-blast cycles. Mining projects in Armenia — copper and molybdenum deposits worked by open-pit methods — belong to exactly the class of operation these machines were built for.

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and resale value
Professional buyers look beyond the purchase price to the Total Cost of Ownership over a 5–10 year horizon. Hitachi consistently scores well across all key TCO categories:
- Fuel consumption: the HIOS system and ECO mode deliver up to 14% savings — at 2,000 operating hours per year, the difference amounts to tens of thousands of dollars over the machine's life
- Service intervals: up to 500 hours on selected models with a centralised lubrication system — directly reducing maintenance costs and downtime
- Service life: high service life to first major overhaul when the manufacturer's service schedule is followed — one of the best figures in the construction and mining equipment class
- Spare parts: genuine Hitachi components in stock at the authorised dealer in Yerevan — no waiting for delivery, no associated downtime
- Resale value: Hitachi machines hold their value reliably on the secondary market. ZX-series machines with a documented authorised dealer service history sell faster and at higher prices than comparable alternatives — significantly shorter time on market compared to brands with less developed service networks
