Master Truck has spent about 15 years excavating foundation pits for high-rise construction in Yerevan. Today its fleet has 6 excavators, and every one of them is a Hitachi. We look at how the contractor arrived at this choice and what it says about the machines after years of working in basalt.
Master Truck's core business is earthmoving and the excavation of foundation pits for high-rise buildings. Today the company's fleet has 6 excavators, and all of them are Hitachi.

When the company was just starting out, its fleet included a JCB JS330.
About five years later, Master Truck bought its first Hitachi — a used ZX280 with relatively low operating hours. The decision was made on the recommendation of other owners and users of this equipment.
The next Hitachi excavator was also bought used, with minimal operating hours. After that, Master Truck switched to buying new machines only.
According to the client, the main reason for choosing Hitachi is reliability. The company works in demanding conditions, including basalt, so the requirements for its equipment are high.
Besides reliability, Master Truck points to high productivity. In the company's experience, when working in the same foundation pit, Hitachi gets the job done faster than competing machines. For a contractor this matters directly: more volume per shift and project deadlines that are met.
One of the specific figures the client gives is loading speed. According to the client, a Hitachi excavator loads a 20 m³ dump truck in roughly 3–4 minutes.
For a company that excavates foundation pits, this is an important indicator: loading speed affects the length of the work cycle and the volume of work completed per shift.

Master Truck compares Hitachi with other popular brands. In the client's assessment, Hitachi's fuel consumption is higher than CAT's but lower than Komatsu's. At the same time, in the client's experience, Hitachi gets the work done faster.
For an equipment owner, what matters is not only hourly fuel consumption but also how much work the machine completes in that time. An excavator that burns more fuel per hour can turn out cheaper per cubic metre of excavated material if its productivity is high enough.
One of the most telling examples in the fleet is a 2015 Hitachi ZX280. Its operating time is about 15,000 hours.
According to the client, there have been no serious mechanical breakdowns over that time. For equipment working in demanding conditions, including basalt excavation, this is an important indicator for an owner.

For Master Truck, equipment reliability has a direct effect on the business. According to the client, the company is confident in the quality of Hitachi excavators and has not had project deadlines missed because of its equipment.
For a contractor excavating foundation pits for high-rise construction, this is fundamental. The excavator is one of the key elements of the process, and its downtime can push back the entire schedule.
Finishing work on time is Master Truck's trademark. And the company is confident that Hitachi equipment helps it keep to that principle.
Master Truck's story is one of a gradual move from a single machine to an entire fleet — a choice shaped not by advertising but by years of operation in real Armenian conditions.
The company's experience shows that when choosing an excavator, it is worth looking beyond the price and the rated fuel consumption: how much work the machine completes, how steadily it runs, and whether it lets the contractor keep to deadlines.
