Wayland Armenia Delivers Two Epiroc SmartROC Drill Rigs to Kajaran Mining Plant

All News

Wayland Holding continues to expand the presence of advanced mining equipment in Armenia. We have successfully delivered two drill rigs — Epiroc SmartROC C50 and Epiroc SmartROC D65 RC — to the Kajaran copper-molybdenum mining and processing plant.

Kajaran is one of the largest mining operations in the region, where demands on equipment reliability, productivity and safety are exceptionally high. It is precisely for these conditions that SmartROC series rigs were chosen — machines that combine outstanding performance with intelligent control systems and low operating costs.

Building on Years of Experience with World-Leading Brands

For Wayland Holding, this delivery marks another milestone in the development of our mining equipment division. For many years our team has worked with machinery from world-class manufacturers including Hitachi, Atlas Copco and Epiroc, taking part in equipment supply, after-sales support and the provision of genuine spare parts to our customers.

Atlas Copco holds a special place in our company's history. This division laid the foundation for modern surface drill rig technology, and when the mining segment was spun off as an independent company in 2018, those technologies continued to evolve under the Epiroc brand. As a result, many operations that previously ran Atlas Copco drill rigs have transitioned seamlessly to Epiroc equipment, maintaining full continuity in technology, engineering approach and service standards.

Alongside this, Wayland Holding actively develops its Hitachi construction and mining equipment line, offering customers integrated solutions for mining, construction and infrastructure projects.

Epiroc SmartROC C50 — Precision and Productivity

The delivery included the Epiroc SmartROC C50, a surface drill rig designed for blast hole drilling in open-pit mines and quarries. The rig operates on Epiroc's COPROD drilling method, which combines the accuracy of top hammer drilling with the penetration rates characteristic of down-the-hole systems.

Epiroc SmartROC D65 RC — Grade Control by Reverse Circulation

The second rig delivered was the Epiroc SmartROC D65 RC — a specialised drill rig for geological sampling using the reverse circulation (RC) method. Its role at Kajaran is to determine the ore content of the rock mass during the drilling process itself.

The reverse circulation method delivers uncontaminated, representative samples from every metre of the hole. Drill cuttings are transported through the inner tube of a dual-wall drill string directly to the sample collection system, without contact with the borehole walls — a critical requirement for reliable grade control at copper-molybdenum operations.

Integrated Solutions for the Mining Industry

The delivery of SmartROC C50 and SmartROC D65 RC to Kajaran reflects Wayland Holding's expertise in executing complex projects for mining operations. We offer supply of new Epiroc and Hitachi equipment, genuine spare parts, scheduled maintenance, technical support, operator training and engineering consultation for equipment selection.

We thank our customer for their trust and are confident that the new drill rigs will deliver reliable, high-performance operation for many years to come.
