In the DTH method, the hammer sits directly behind the bit, transferring impact energy straight into the rock without losses through the drill string. This delivers high penetration rates in hard, abrasive, and fractured rock where top hammer loses efficiency. PowerROC D45 is optimised for rock with hardness f = 8–20 (Protodyakonov scale).
DTH hammer efficiency depends directly on compressor pressure. PowerROC D45 is equipped with a high-pressure compressor providing stable hammer operation at 115–178 mm diameters. High pressure maintains productivity at deep holes without performance loss.

D55 is for larger quarries with wider hole diameters (152–229 vs 115–178 mm) and higher engine power (~340 kW). D45 is the optimal choice for medium quarry operations.
