GET-loss monitoring

What GET is and why it matters

GET (Ground Engaging Tools) are the wear components of a bucket that work directly in the material. They take abrasion and impact, protecting the bucket and its cutting edge.

What GET consists of

Teeth, adapters, shrouds (wear protection) and bucket cutting edges. In some CR systems the adapters are integrated into a cast lip, so no weld-on adapters are needed.

Why protect the bucket

Worn or lost GET leads to wear on the bucket and its lip and, in the worst case, to metal entering the processing chain. Timely replacement and condition monitoring reduce the risk of unplanned downtime.

What drives the choice

Machine type and class, bucket and lip design, material abrasiveness and hardness, duty cycle, and whether digital GET-loss monitoring is needed (see “Payload Weighing & Monitoring”).

CR Powered by Epiroc solutions by machine type

The ranges are grouped by purpose: these are not universal “teeth for any excavator” but systems for a specific machine type and class. Names and descriptions follow manufacturer materials.

Hydraulic mining excavators

RazerEdge cast lip and GET system on a hydraulic excavator bucket

RazerEdge

Cast lip and GET system
Machines: Hydraulic excavators (face shovel and backhoe) in the 100–400 t class

Hydraulic excavator bucket with a Stingray cast lip and GET system

Stingray

Cast lip and GET system
Machines: Hydraulic excavators from the 400 t class and above

A cast lip for the largest hydraulic excavators: one casting with integral noses instead of a welded or plate-built lip.

  • Slimline profile for easier material flow into the bucket
  • Smooth transitions that spread stress and avoid heat-affected zones
  • Service without welding or hammering

  • Simpler, safer change-outs

Armourblade

Weld-on edge system
Machines: LHDs of 10 t and above

A low-profile weld-on edge made from high-strength material for LHD buckets.

What makes up the economics of GET

We do not quote average savings figures: results depend on the material, the machine and the duty cycle. These are the factors worth comparing when choosing a system.

Change-out time and labour

How many operations and people are needed to replace teeth and adapters, and whether welding, hot work or hammering is required.

Downtime and unplanned stops

How often and how suddenly a machine has to stop because of GET wear or loss.

Bucket and lip condition

How well the system protects the bucket lip and how much repair the bucket itself needs.

GET loss and its consequences

A lost tooth or shroud can reach the crusher; digital loss monitoring (GET Trakka) helps detect such an event.

Personnel safety

Avoiding hot work and hammering during change-outs reduces site risk — according to the manufacturer, for cast systems.

Total cost of ownership

Compare not the price of a set but the cost per tonne, taking life, downtime and maintenance in your conditions into account.

What we need to select GET

The more accurate the data, the faster our engineers can narrow the choice and prepare an offer.

  • Machine type, manufacturer and model (excavator, loader, LHD, etc.)
  • Bucket type, capacity and lip type (plate, weld-on adapters, cast)
  • Current GET: manufacturer, series, part numbers or photos and measurements
  • Material and conditions: abrasiveness, hardness, impact loading
  • Duty cycle and current problems: accelerated wear, breakage, tooth loss
  • Whether GET-loss monitoring (GET Trakka) and payload control (Titan 3330) are needed

Digital monitoring: GET loss and payload

Besides teeth and lips, CR offers digital systems. Details are on a separate page.

GET Trakka — real-time detection of lost teeth and shrouds. Titan 3330 — bucket and truck payload management. Orion Data Analytics — data analytics.

Frequently asked questions

About CR Powered by Epiroc GET systems.

Which excavators do RazerEdge and Stingray fit?

+
According to Epiroc, RazerEdge is designed for hydraulic excavators (face shovel and backhoe) in the 100–400 t class — for example Komatsu PC1250–PC3000, Hitachi EX1200–EX3600, Liebherr R 9100–R 9400 and Caterpillar 6030–6040. Stingray is for machines in the 400 t class and above: Komatsu PC4000–PC8000 (backhoes up to PC7000), Hitachi EX3600–EX8000, Liebherr R 9400–R 9800 and Caterpillar 6050–6090. The exact fit of the lip to your bucket is confirmed during selection: send us the machine model and serial number.

What is GET and what does it consist of?

+
GET (Ground Engaging Tools) are the wear components of a bucket: teeth, adapters, shrouds and cutting edges. They take abrasion and impact and protect the bucket itself.

What is CR Powered by Epiroc?

+
It is the brand of CR’s GET and digital solutions after the company joined the Epiroc group (the deal was completed in February 2023). It covers ranges for surface and underground mining and the GET Trakka and Titan 3330 digital systems.

How does a cast lip differ from a traditional system with weld-on adapters?

+
In CR cast systems (for example RazerEdge, Stingray, DecaEdge) the adapters are integrated into a one-piece cast lip, so weld-on adapters are not needed and, according to the manufacturer, change-outs do not require hot work. The right choice depends on the machine and conditions.

Will a CR system fit my bucket or excavator?

+
CR systems are designed for specific machine types and classes; there is no universal solution “for any excavator”. Fit is determined by machine model, bucket and lip type — send us the data and we will clarify the options.

What data do you need to prepare an offer?

+
Machine type and model, bucket and lip type, current GET (manufacturer, series, part numbers or photos), material and duty cycle. The full list is given above on this page.

How do I get a commercial offer?

+
Submit a request on this page or contact us: we will clarify the supply of the required items and prepare a commercial offer. Prices and lead times are not published on the website.

Can lost teeth and shrouds be tracked?

+
Yes — CR has the GET Trakka digital system for this: sensors in the GET steel and real-time alerts to the operator. See “Payload Weighing & Monitoring” for details.
